Continued Adventures

Wow, it has just been such a great few weeks. We've been busy - Henry's party, a trip to Lisbon with EB, and CJ's graduation from Sandhurst last night. I'll bring you up to date.

I guess I should point out that the photos from my trip to visit my family in California in July are now up on my flickr account (along with quite a few others). The photos of Sarah after she's just been eating dirt are particularly precious (I thought the dirt unibrow was especially so).

A few weeks ago, we celebrated Henry's birthday with a big party and a bunch of sangria. It was great fun, and we spent most of the time in the garden being loud and annoying my neighbors, or in our living room, playing Rock Band. There's nothing like seeing a bunch of drunk people trying to rock out to Weezer.

The next weekend, I went to Lisbon to meet up with EB, who was in Portugal for a science meeting.
We had a really good time hanging out and chatting, mostly, with the occasionally stab at sightseeing thrown in. Here EB is standing on the patio at the castle in Sintra, which was just gorgeous. We had beautiful weather the entire time we were there and it was just so much fun to catch up with her. I think girls' getaways should happen in my life more often!

Last night we went up to Sandhurst for Chris Jones' graduation. I have a terrible soft spot for CJ in my heart as he was one of the first of Henry's friends that I met, and he was so kind as to sit next to me and keep me company at Henry's housewarming party that first weekend I visited. He's also one of Henry's favorite people, and we enjoy seeing him whenever we can. We've been lucky to get a few of his precious leave days since he's been at Sandhurst. I was delighted that we got an invitation to his Commissioning Ball, and we had a fantastic time. Everyone was so much fun and we drank lots and lots and lots of champagne and danced and ate - we even made it to the Survivor's Breakfast at 1:30am and didn't make it back to the hotel until 3am, which is about the latest I can make it nowadays. It was a blast, and the photos prove it.

So life has been good, as usual. Henry and I are spending a lazy (read: hungover) day doing a whole lot of nothing except playing xbox and laying around on the couch. I'm studying hard for my driver's test on Wednesday - 16 years after taking it the first time in the States, I have to do it all over again to be legal to drive over here. It sucks, but I'm looking forward to getting it out of the way - one of the last hurdles before I go for my indefinite leave to remain in about 18 months.

That's about all from us - I hope you all are having as much fun as we are!
